What is it about?

This study described a novel initiative of Delhi to roll out a social protection scheme of financial assistance to children affected by AIDS on principle of household economic strengthening of people living with HIV/AIDS. This is conditional cash transfer scheme that has helped improve retention in HIV care to almost 100% in the beneficiaries. The scheme is a fitst state government sponsored social protection scheme for orphan children infected or affected by HIV/AIDS in the country.

Why is it important?

Situational analysis of orphan children infected or affected by AIDS undertaken in Delhi may be undertaken by all other low HIV prevelance states and regions to ensure that ChABA are given packagec of services includong financial support.

Perspectives

To help the poorest of the poor and most downtrodden and undetprevidged section of society by mobilizing state government support have been a very satisfying experience.
