What is it about?
This study used tele-audiology to monitor hearing aid use and support parent learning. Hearing aid use was monitored using data logging and families received support for 6 months. Average hours of daily hearing aid use increased by 3.5 hours. Families liked the flexibility and timely access to support. Parents and professionals would benefit from technology that allows them to access data logging information more easily and frequently.

Managing hearing aids on a day-to-day basis can be challenging for parents. Audiologists can help parents overcome barriers by providing timely support. Tele-audiology is a way to reach parents without the need for an office visit and to support other members of the family. This is an untapped opportunity in audiology that could yield big benefits.
