What is it about?

“Italy through the Stereoscope: Journeys in and about Italian cities” was a 3D visual tour, produced to give a realistic and immersive visual reproduction of Italian art, landscape, and society. This book and a series of stereoviews (published in 1903) are analyzed as a forerunner of modern virtual–reality technologies. The author explores the rhetorical means, strictly intertwined with the stereoscopic representations.
