It focuses on the the gender relations and female agency embedded in these stories in order to determine if they conjure up any liberating potential for their audience.

The astounding popularity of recent vampire stories, especially among female audience, demands investigation. They can help us understand how Western sexual politics is changing. This article does not reduce vampire stories to sexist stories but rather aims at determining what kind of sexual desires, fantasies, and pleasures they provide.
