Why is it important?

The significance of curriculum development in the digital age for archives and records management, particularly in Africa, cannot be overstated. While universities worldwide have integrated comprehensive studies on all aspects of archives and records management programs, with a particular emphasis on managing records created in networked environments, this is not necessarily the case for universities on the African continent. In Africa, there has been a long-standing history of education and training for professionals specializing in archives and records. However, various countries across Africa have pursued different paths to achieve their professional qualifications in this field.

Perspectives

This study highlights the ongoing research conducted by the InterPARES Trust Africa Team. The purpose of this research is to analyze the curricula of various educational institutions in Africa and assess how well they incorporate the management of digital records in networked environments, considering their growing complexity. The ultimate goal is for this study to provide valuable insights that can be utilized for curriculum development and review within African higher learning institutes specifically focusing on digital records.
