What is it about?

In multicultural environment the military is subjected to various expectations. The ability to cooperate in such an environment is one of the terms for a sucess. Hence we have studied the competences and personal characteristics expected from military leaders deployed to a peace operation. Cultural awareness, emotional intelligence, professionalism and common military values have proved to be the of high importance for contemporary military leaders.

Why is it important?

Two armed forces have been analysed using a bottom up approach. The study's focus is on the attitudes and perceptions of the service members in field. Analysed service members come from culturally different environments, but are very similar due to common military values. In the end we can say that the expectations from a leader in peace operation are very similar despite national differences.
