What is it about?

Certain pesticides were found to increase the susceptibility of rice plants to attack by the brown planthopper, a major tropical insect pest. The effect varied according to the pesticide type and the rice variety, and decreased with time after treatment. This effect on rice plants offsets the benefits provided by using resistant varieties and needs to be considered in integrated pest management.
