What is it about?

This article reviews the distribution mechanism of the EU funds for regions. After an analysis of the policy rationale, it shows that the distribution of funds has significantly changed, regardless economic dynamics.

Why is it important?

- This article proposes to include political behaviours to understand the evolution of a regional economic policy, which is often considered as 'neutral' - A different perspective on the EU intervention showing the central role played by member states over regions and the EU Commission

Perspectives

The main interest for this publication is on showing the differences in treatment received by regions through Structural Funds. EU intervention is clearly heterogeneous, non-constant and uneven over time and space.
