ABSTRACT: The pre-autophagosomal structure (PAS) is a putati ve site for autoph agosom e forma tion in budding y east. Upon nutrient de pletion or rapa mycin treatment, target of rapamyc in compl ex 1 (TORC1) becomes inacti ve, inducing PAS forma tion and autoph agy. Here, we show that Yvh1 pho sphatas e is critical for PAS forma tion, but no t autophagy ind uction, after TOR C1 inactivati on.
