What is it about?

Evidence based on the experimental method relies on a degree of abstraction that makes it hard to apply whatever idea it supports in a particular setting. As a result, field professionals (in this case, teachers) use a wider array of research when working out how to change their practice in their specific setting - ie schools and classrooms. This research may not be considered ‘rigorous’ by policy makers. Nevertheless, it is essential.
