Why is it important?

The importance of the article is twofold: 1. It reveals the importance of the Southern-Albanian Oil for the formation of English politics on Albania and Albanian-Greek relations. 2. It reveals the role of Morton Frederic Eden, a personality entirely neglected by the bibliography. 3. It is the first article in English working on the role of Morton Frederic Eden.

Perspectives

The article changes the perspective in which English involvement in Albania is understood. United Kingdom was considered an indifferent agent in the Albanian affairs. It is well proved that this was not the case, Britain was interested in Southern Albanian oil and, therefore, favoured Albania in Albanian-Greek relations. By revealing the, entirely neglecting thus far, role of Morton Frederic Eden, the article, proves the profound interest that Britain had in Albania.
