Why is it important?

Islamic hip hop is an alternative to mainstream hip hop and a medium for expressing a Muslim identity and promoting a social change. Similarly, free jazz expression once supported African-American society in establishing its status, beliefs and rights. This kind of interesting comparison has not been done before.
