Why is it important?

Most studies on alcohol are performed in mix gender sample. To our knowledge, this is the first study to analyse big five personality dimensions and defense styles only in a group of women. Our results confirm that it is necessary to establish specific therapies based on gender because of female specificities.

Perspectives

It is necessary to develop this type of study to larger samples. It would be interesting to actually think about psychotherapies by gender (support group for women with alcohol, work on representations, thoughts, behaviors, ...) in order to offer them more likely to get out from the disease.
