Why is it important?

2014 marks the bicentenary of the Norwegian constitution. This article is a contribution to a better understanding of what 1814 involved. Previous research has emphasized the French and American revolutionary traditions, but this research has the benefit of focusing on a single country. The British role is apt to be forgotten because her constitution is unwritten and has influenced so many others.
