It is rare to obtain crystals in which the molecules are optimally oriented to react with one another when illuminated. The BBCP system is one such example.

Why is it important?
The work provides a rationalisation of the wavelength dependence of the photodimerization as well as the cracking observed in some crystals.
Perspectives
This is the only paper of mine employing a structural refinement based on intermolecular non - bonded potentials. My subsequent research focus switched to Functional Ceramics.
