Perspectives

This article came out of my research on American business and alcohol prohibition, which goes back a decade. Coming of beer-drinking age during the 1980s, a sad time for beer taste and variety in America, may have motivated this project as well. Likewise, my love of hoppy ales and other craft beers piqued my interest in what opened up the market and how the current selection compares to pre-Prohibition times and the 19th century. (Answer: we are living in a golden age, really.)
