What is it about?

OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing ) is widely used in high data rate applications, however OFDM surfers from high PAPR. In literature there are different PAPR reduction techniques. Among them companding techniques are simple and effective. But there are several companding techniques in literature. In this paper we compere them with different metrics to select the best one.

Why is it important?

It shows that Log companding is the best one among others. It gives the lowest BER (Bit Error Rate) when passed through the HPA (High Power Amplifier), with the highest PAPR reduction gain among others, and reduces require IBO (Input Back off) more than others to follow the given PSD (Power spectral Density) mask.

Perspectives

Based on this results I expected Log companding to be hybridized with other PAPR reduction techniques.
