What is it about?

I test the effects of civil conflict termination type on violence in major urban areas in the developing world. I find that conflict termination is significantly associated with more urban violence when conflicts end in defeat for the government. I argue that this is because opposition groups in major urban centers mobilize in response to signals of state weakness generated by defeat in civil conflict.
