Why is it important?

The study explains the effect of the different process parameters on the formability of the metallic foils. It was found that the grid size and deformation speed had a significant effect on the limiting strains. The decrease in grid diameter led to an increase in the forming limits as the smaller grid diameter were able to measure the necking region efficiently. Similarly, the deformation speed had a decremental effect of the limiting strains as the increase in speed led to a decrease in the limiting strains.

Perspectives

This study will help in understanding the deformation behaviour of the metallic foils and will help in determining their forming limits so that they can be used for fabrication of components in the industrial shop floor.
