What is it about?

Bartlett is regarded as a pioneering, ground- breaking psychologist, famous for his 1932 book ' Remembering' ,with its ' War of the Ghosts' story in reconstructive recall. I show that very similar work was conducted prior to Bartlett and that, indeed, especially in regard to his experiment s on memory for extended passages, it is extremely likely that, and this without acknowledgement, he copied the work and concepts of an American psychologist, Ernest Norton Henderson(1903).

Why is it important?

Taking other's work and ideas and using them without acknowledgement is unacceptable no matter how famous the author.

Perspectives

It is never too late to make a contribution. I retired near 20 years ago as an educational psychologist and am aged 83.
