Drone strikes have become central to Obama's war on terror. While Carl Schmitt's concept of the political as the meeting between friend and enemy has been central to analyses of Bush's war on terror, this paper explores whether Obama's uptake in drone use changes this picture.

This paper questions the historical trajectory of Schmitt's concept of the political which became ingrained in scholarly analyses of Bush's war on terror. Here, I examine how the technology used in warfare implicates upon the way in which war is fought.
Perspectives
