Why is it important?

The current consumer dance model is analyzed for how it shapes the dancer’s body and psyche. A concern is that the dancer is becoming a product.

Perspectives

As a researcher, I see an intersection of my identities as a figure skater, modern dancer, choreographer, educator, feminist, and the mother of two daughters who dance, informing my research's trajectory. I want my daughters to be immersed in an art form that is about process over product.
