What is it about?

Words can mean different things to different people, each attached to a value that is important to the person who reads, hears or speaks it. Everyone deserves an equal chance to stay and/or become healthy but some groups of people experience greater challenges because of where they live, eat, learn and play. This paper looks at how a Canadian regional health authority can talk about unfair differences in health in a way that people can relate to and be motivated to be part of the solution to help everyone have good health.

Why is it important?

There isn't a lot of research in Canada that looks at the how we communicate about complex health issues, especially those linked to social justice, are received by others. In healthcare, it's important to be able to connect to a wide range of audiences to build partnerships in working on helping everyone be healthy.
