What is it about?
Its about the assessment of seismicity of Peshawar region which was previously coined a high seismic zone. In this paper we have shown that the seismicity of Peshawar region is quite low than suggested by the building code of Pakistan. For the assessment we used Seismic hazard analysis technique. The technique used has the utility of providing spectral acceleration values for the region which did not existed previously. In this way we can also compare the classical approach as well as the modern approach for estimation of seismicity.

Why is it important?
The assessment of seismicity on the lines of modern building codes is very important as it gives us a good insight about the nature of earthquakes of a region as well as the response of structures in seismic loading is accurately defined by modern building codes. Such procedures did not existed before the publication of this paper for Peshawar region. Hence this research can be utilized anywhere where assessment of seismicity through modern building codes is required as well as the utility of modern building code for the design of structures.
