What is it about?
The product of medical tourism at the border is determined by the income of patients and the needs of care. The demand for health services at the border includes not only the services sought by patients from neighboring cities, but also bariatric, aesthetic and dental surgeries of patients traveling from distant cities, including Canada [and other countries, some of them who live in the United States.

Why is it important?
Our results show that border medical tourism has an upward trend that needs to be planned, the information obtained allows to deepen the knowledge of what is happening in the border and its implications for health systems.
Perspectives
Most studies on medical tourism address overseas travel, however, this article aims to publicize what happens on a daily basis at the border with the United States in the field of health care. The results of this research show a complex reality experienced by medical tourism patients, having to cross the border to meet their health needs, while for private service providers in Ciudad Juarez it will be relevant to know the behavior of the demand for plan the growth of their business.
