What is it about?
The reported in literature procedure of sol-gel/emulsion method was modified to prepare protein loaded silica particles as platform for manufacturing novel formulations of protein drugs for oral administration.

Why is it important?
The developed synthesis procedure allows to prepare protein-silica particles which can provide maintenance of therapeutic concentration of the drug for a long time without loss of biological activity of structurally fragile protein molecules. The developed novel formulation can help to avoid unpleasant, painful injections of protein drugs.
