What is it about?
Chemical modification of of polyene macrolide antibiotics alows to prepare their semi-synthetic derivatives with low toxicity, more soluble in water and water solutions, with high antifungal activity and more wide specrtrum of biological action. It is very important because polyene macrolide antibiotics have very low solubility in water and high toxicity (mainly, nephrotoxicity) in systemic treatment.

Why is it important?
THe semi-synthetic derivatives of polyene macrolide antibiotics can be considered as potential antifungal preparations for using in medical mycology for treatment of various mycoses.
Perspectives
The creation of new low-toxic potent high-effective antifungal preparations with improved chemotherapeutical properties.
