What is it about?
This article presents an approach to dramatically simplify to prioritize and group potential cost allocations assigned to PRPs at complex Mega-Superfund sites. The same approach can be applied to a portfolio of insured environmental claims. To purpose is to prioritize and group potential financial exposures (insured environmental losses) to direct claims resources and assist with long-term runoffs and reserve accruals.

Why is it important?
This approach and visualization tool can help make environmental insurance claims and runoff operations more cost-effective.
Perspectives
This proposed risk-based approach can provide a window into future environmental litigations, PRP cost allocations, and potential settlements thus reducing legal and regulatory frictional costs related to Mega-Superfund sites.
