Going green for music festivals
What is it about?
This paper looks at why music festivals are successfully introducing green (or pro-environmental) iniativies, and also how they have managed to do this. The main reasons are because many music festival organisers feel it is an important things to do, but also because event attendees are looking for greener events, and because it gives the festival a marketing advantage. The barriers to greening identified included lack of time, finances and know-how.
Why is it important?
The paper is one of the first to look at successful examples of event greening, and identify why they are successful, and explain what other festivals can do to be greener. The paper also helps to find solutions to some of the things that are holding other event organisers back from going green
