'What is the future of sport history in academia?'

What is it about?

In light of long-term academic predjudice and ever increasing pressure upon the humanities/study of sport, how may the discipline of sport history become more relevant to other sub-diciplines of history and create more 'impact' in the era of the Research Excellence Framework (UK)? This issue explores the current state of sport history, how the sub-dicipline may contribute within so-called 'mainstream' and 'public' history, and what methodologies and publication avenues may be employed.
