What is it about?
In order to improve water governance, it is important to find out what is lacking. Based on a literature study of what the ideal rational governance situation would be, a framework was designed displaying rational governance. Vinh Chau District in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta was picked as a case study to test the rationality of groundwater governance in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta's coastal zone. Based on the findings, recommendations were formulated.

Why is it important?
This study is important as it shows perspectives of rational groundwater governance in coastal zones, such research can be applied to similar delta zones around the globe. Furthermore, it shows ways for improvement for groundwater governance in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta.
Perspectives
We hope that this rigorous research helps groundwater governance in similar delta's around the globe at regard to environmental degradation and the situation of groundwater users (e.g. farmers).
