What is it about?

The regime of whistle blowing is a vital tool for exposing misconduct or illegal actions of another person. This article studies the system of whistle blowing in the interest of the public in Nigeria. It creates an awareness of the system of whistle blowing by highlighting the potential benefits of the regime in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.

Why is it important?

The article finds that Nigeria lacks adequate laws to protect whistle blowers that expose misconduct or illegalities in the interest of the public. It gave reasons why the Whistle Blower Protection Bill 2015 needs to be the existing law. It also suggests ways of creating an awareness of the system of whistle blowing using the current laws in Nigeria.

Perspectives

We hope this article helps the lawmakers, policymakers, citizens, and residents of Nigeria to be conscious of the system of whistle blowing. We hope this article inspires the government to protect whistle blowers in the country and we hope the article motivates an observer of wrongdoings or illegalities make his or her observation public to protect public interest and have the public regulate the government that is in place to serve the people in the first place.
