What is it about?

If the wave-function is material, and it is a scalar field then quantum mechanics is irreversible in time. Since symmetries are important, then the wave-function is not material.

Why is it important?

If one believes that scientific theories inform us about the nature of reality, then one has to figure out what they tell us about it. I argue that we should not look at the wave function for an image of the world.
