What is it about?

Digital natives are people who have grown up with and are comfortable with using technology. This interprofessional study used a mobile app developed for Goal Attainment Scaling to measure and continuously track student's progress toward individually selected wellness and professional development goals for their capstone fieldwork experience.

Why is it important?

During fieldwork, students often experience high stress related to juggling clinical work, personal life, and finances, all while geographically separated from campus. Little research has been conducted to study how students transition to the clinical setting and how to better support their success in field placement using preferred digital tools.

Perspectives

I hope this article stimulates discussion about innovative ways to use technology in education. I am very excited about continuing to develop our mobile and web-based app for Goal Attainment Scaling and am interested in networking with others already using this tool in their research or practice.
