What is it about?

This paper discusses the development of a framework to support students through the collaboration process, making use of online collaborative workspaces and a multi-stage essay writing process involving a mix of individual and group tasks.

Why is it important?
Collaborative assignments are increasingly prevalent but we are still in the early stages of understanding how to best support and scaffold students through the group work process.
Perspectives
I believe the framework we developed has wider application across Higher Education assessment, not just in the field of English for Academic Purposes. It's also essential we understand how to structure and assess collaborative assignments to make them beneficial for the students.
