What is it about?
The prognostic role of the controlling nutritional status (CONUT) score in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has not been evaluated. The aim of the current study was to clarify the prognostic significance of the CONUT score in Korean patients with surgically-treated RCC.

Why is it important?
A high CONUT score was closely related to aggressive pathologic features and was an independent predictor of CSS after nephrectomy. This is the first study to examine the prognostic value of the CONUT score in RCC.
Perspectives
I believe that our finding will be of great interest to researchers/clinicians focusing on the effects of nutrition on the clinical outcomes of cancer patients after surgery.
