What is it about?

The short review essay reflects on the renewed attention to materiality and reality in contemporary Italian literature and cinema and on the philosophical, political and ethical implications of these recent artistic "encounters."

Why is it important?

In the review, I engage the most recent critical refections in Italian studies on eco-criticism, material agency, the post-human within the context of previous theories of realism.

The review focuses on questions that I have studied in connection with the cinema of neorealism and that I intend to further explore in the future.
