What is it about?

The afterburner is fitted after the exhaust of the turbine and before the nozzle for providing additional thrust when required. The computational analysis of afterburner using Ansys Fluent is carried out. The important fluid flow parameters and their variation along the length of the afterburner were explained.

Why is it important?

Examining and understanding the flow in afterburner will help in design of better afterburner.

Perspectives

The computational analysis of the complex flow in the afterburner is very complex which includes the liner with screech holes, cooling holes, placement of V gutter and fuel injection manifolds. The fluid parameters obtained help in the analysis and mitigation of screech and is very important.
