Why is it important?
Arts-Based Research (ABR) has been framed as dangerous in the field of Art Education. Sometimes this framing is intended to deter the use of Arts-Based methodologies and sometimes this framing encourages the use of ABR to subvert hegemony. This paper acknowledges these intentional uses of danger discourse and also raises concerns about about the a lack of nuance and polarizing effects of danger discourse, particularly in relation to the concept of legitimacy.
