What is it about?
The use of poetic imagery of negative space to address and undiagnosable special needs child. Sky seen framed by bare tree branches, for example, is crucial to apprehension of the whole beauty of the tree. A child who is "other" brings into focus the conundrum of how, why, and whether we see a human being as "normal."

Why is it important?
In a culture too much fragmented by the othering of marginalized populations and ideas, we need to widen our lenses to view and accept---even delight in---difference.
Perspectives
I am honored to offer this poem to a journal that supports the work of Carl Jung and the extraordinary value of asking questions and not always having immediate answers, of searching and longing and the value of engaging with the unknown.
