What is it about?

Many different invertebrate animals including insects, mites, worms, etc., play important roles in our crops, maintaining soil health, controlling pests and pollinating flowers. Climate change will affect these functions in different ways. Invertebrates are expected to adapt, move or die out. We do not know enough about how invertebrates will be affected to make precise predictions, but there will be effects, some causing significant damage, and these will need to be managed.

Why is it important?

Recognising that the beneficial role of many invertebrates in agriculture will be disrupted by climate change, we identify some of the research gaps that need to be addressed to better understand what the risks are and what we can do to mitigate them.
