Why is it important?

Tsur's standing over the years has increased immeasurably as more readers are beginning to digest his complex but illuminating research into cognitive poetics. In this review, I focus on three issues arising from this second edition: 1) how well Tsur's arguments and analyses have stood up against subsequent literary cognitive science research; 2) what distinguishes Tsur's theory of cognitive poetics from other cognitive approaches to literature; and 3) what contribution Tsur's theory makes to the development of future cognitive poetics research.

Perspectives

Over the many years I have been reading and corresponding with Reuven Tsur, I have come even more to appreciate the scope and depth of his understanding of the nature of poetry and its relationship to human cognitive processing. Tsur's work has influenced my own research in many ways.
