What is it about?
This book is about the relationship between language and material culture from the perspective of complexity theory. Both language and material objects are part of ongoing complex processes; they emerge from the interaction of speakers, producers, hearers, and makers. Because of this, linguistic 'things' and material things may not be as different as we think they are.
