What is it about?

This volume brings together a number of different perspectives on researching metaphor in cross-cultural communication, from how to do this to what this tells us about how ordinary users of communication systems (language, gesture, visuals) actually do this.

Why is it important?

Globalization, emigration and so on make it ever more frequent that people from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds communicate with each other. The quality of that communication has an impact on the relations between them. We know that metaphor reveals much about how people think and reason about recurring situations and events, so it's very important to know more about this.
