This chapter syntheses the (very) different policies implemented by different political authorities to deal with multilingualism.

Why is it important?

Methodologically, the fact that different policies are implemented in the same area allows to obtain comparative consequences of the validity of each method. It also helps understanding the reasons for the widely accepted success of Catalan-school in promoting language maintenance of the minority language in a context of multilingualism.
