What is it about?

This paper far-right ideology of beauty, tradition, and nature on folkish or neo-pagan Instagram. It looks at far-right ideology of beauty and nature, but also how fascism is made beautiful and natural, through a kind of "dark-hippie" aesesthetic of images of dark forests, mountain landscapes, and white women. These together link nature to tradition, creating an idea of an innate aryan culture, whose revival is termed "white wellbeing"

Why is it important?

This paper shows how biological racism can be aestheticized as seemingly innocuous calls for wellness or nature conservation on social media, helping us to understand the spread of fascism in alt-health and ecological spaces.

Perspectives

This is a paper about how nature is given meaning by the right. It is also a paper about why on earth there are goth hippies, and why they had to be fascists.
