What is it about?

Rare species with narrow range distributions often have reduced seed set due to low pollinator attention and this may be exacerbated by major disturbances close to where the species occur. However species may be robust in terms of population survival if pollinators are present and ensure adequate seed set even in places where disturbances such a mining are a significant disturbance

Why is it important?

The study shows that in some cases rare species are not rare due to poor pollinator attention or low seed set but merely because they have evolved in isolation due to a special type of habitat and location.
