What is it about?
It is an exchange between several scholars following my publication in Physics Today about Alexander Friedman's role in developing the modern views on the universe's evolution from "singuarity" (aka "Big Bang").

Why is it important?
The Big Bang is quite a complex phenomenon and many interpretations exist on what comes first: the formula found by Friedman (1922, 1924), the linear relation between velocities and distances conjectured by Lemaitre (1927) and confirmed by Hubble (1929) or physical picture developed by Lemaitre (1931).
Perspectives
Well, some historical problems were settled at the conference "The Origins of the Universe" dedicated to Vesto Slipher, which was held at Flagstaff, AZ, in October 2012.
