What is it about?

The properties of ionic liquids, which determine their suitability for many applications, may be tuned by changing their composition. These observations are critical in the small cluster size regime where phenomena do not scale predictably to the bulk phase, and each atom counts toward determining behavior.

Perspectives

We use distinguishing mass spectrometry and spectroscopy capabilities at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory to investigate how the composition of ionic liquid clusters determines their behavior.
