What is it about?
The maximum efficiency of harnessing solar radiation for work extraction has been extensively researched. In contrast, the more subtle quest for the most effective photothermal heating method has not been treated in literature.

Why is it important?
Normal photothermal heating consists of solar energy first transformed into internal energy of a higher temperature converter which is subsequently allowed to degrade itself to the lower temperature of the heated body. A more effective photothermal heating technology based on heat extractors is presented in this paper.
Perspectives
Numerical examples indicate that it is possible to increase photothermal heating efficiency by more than 50%.
